Commonwealth Day 2015

On Monday 9th March 2015, one of the fourth form classes of the Convent High School attended a commemoration for Commonwealth Day at the Arawak House of Culture. The commemoration was under the theme, 'A Young Commonwealth :- New Generation, New Ideas'. In attendance was, His Lordship, Bishop Gabriel Malziare, Rev. Dr. Novelle Josiah, Ministers of Government, including His Excellency the President, Mr. Charles Saverin and the Hon. Prime Minister, Mr. Roosevelt Skerrit.

The Commonwealth Day message from Her majesty the Queen Elizabeth ll was read  by His Excellency the President, Mr. Charles Saverin. Many schools were present, including a few from the southern district. The commemoration ended with the recital of a British poem by students of the Dominica Grammar School; followed by, a tribute to Malala Yousafzai, by the Orion Academy and finally a display of African outfits by, The Isaiah Thomas Secondary School.

The Vote of thanks was given by, Chief Education Officer, Mrs. Melena Fountaine.
 A Commemorative day it was indeed!
