On Wednesday June 26 sixty-six girls from the Convent High school bade good bye to their alma mater as they graduated under the theme “Moving on, Letting Go, Holding On to Tomorrow”.

The graduation ceremony took place at the Windsor Park Stadium under the patronage of His Excellency, the President Mr. Eliud Williams and Mrs. Williams. The school’s band heralded their arrival with a resounding fanfare and began the evenings proceedings with the National Anthem.

Monsignor William John-Lewis blessed all gathered with an opening prayer and inspirational song.  Head Girl Jade Alexander welcomed all and ended her address by encouraging the graduates to move on, knowing that their journey had just begun, while letting go of all negativity, insecurities, and mediocrity and holding on to the wisdom that through Christ anything is possible.

The Principal, Mrs. Josephine Dublin, contentedly reflected on the past year’s academic as well as extra curricula achievements.  Feature speaker, Miss Lolita Raffoul, past student and teacher of the Convent High School, urged the graduates to plan mindfully for their future and gave very sound advice to them as they moved into their new spheres in life. His Lordship Bishop Gabriel Malzaire and the Minister of Education, Mr Petter St. Jean further advised the graduates as they let go of their high school years to engage a tomorrow of dreams and aspirations.

To add that extra touch to the evening’s proceedings, the Speech Chorale, Sign Language Group and Choir, all led by the able Miss Leandra Lander, wowed the guests with their renditions. The graduates directed by Miss Audris Jno. Baptiste sang ‘Wherever I Go’ by Miley Cyrus.

The climax of the evening was the valedictory, Alex-Maree Roberts’, speech. Alex-Maree, reminisced upon her five years at the Convent High School reminding the graduates that “what we are is God's gift to us; what we become is our gift to God.”quoted from American author, Eleanor Powell. In addition, she propounded that the graduates had already had a taste of real life after all their experiences, good and bad, while at school; and that Convent  had indeed prepared them for what they would be experiencing outside the walls of CHS. Alex-Maree thanked all those who supported the graduates during their years at CHS and ended by quoting from a song by Rascal Flatts:
“My wish for you is that life becomes all that you want it to, your dreams stay big, and your worries stay small, you never need to carry more than you can hold. And while you're out there getting where you're getting to, I hope you know somebody loves you, and wants the same things too. Yeah, this, is my wish.”

The graduates proudly left the stadium beaming to the resounding strains of Elgar’s “Pomp and Circumstance”. Congratulations to the graduates of the class of 2013.
