St. Cecilia House members celebrated their The Patron Saint of Musicians and Poets, St. Cecilia, on the 22nd November 2010 at the Convent High School with a special assembly.

The assembly commenced with the recitation of the second stanza of the National Anthem.

Donielle Bradshaw, commentator and House Captain, introduced the assembly while Tawiah Hunter gave the History of St. Cecilia. A short hymn performed on the Clarinet by Brianna Benjamin preceded the Bible reading which was delivered by Kayla Victor. Shyanne Lake gave a rendition of "Mercy Said No" much to the appreciation of the enthusiastic student body. After this, Psalm 24 was read alternately by house prefects, Cessaney Dangleben and Sharissa Lockhart. Soon after, bidding prayers were offered on behalf of Dominica, The Convent High School, The House Members and all Musicians. A Meditation Hymn, "Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring" was performed by Brianna Benjamin on the Recorder and was complimented with much applause.

The Highlights of this celebratory assembly were the honoring of one of our former House Mothers, Mrs. Lucille Blackman. Mrs. Blackman was a dedicated and much loved house mother and left a legacy in her displays which she created with artistic attention. She was honored with a certificate of dedication and service as well as with a beautiful bouquet of Flowers, while a citation was read by Ms. Ettinoff.

Ms. Yende Grell, former House Captain and Ms. Karyncia Joseph, were awarded certificates for their achievements at the 2010 CXC examinations. Both received eight Grade I’s and one grade II. Other high achievers of St. Cecilia's house were Tojya Vital and Tawiah Hunter who were recognized for their success at the DAT 2010 Spelling Bee Competition where they placed second. Ms. Hunter was honoured as the best speller at that competition.

Donielle Bradshaw, Ahnice Breedy, Cessaney Dangleben, Rolanda Ferdinand, Markerah George, Sharissa Lockhart, Junelle Moses, Ebony Harringan, Mitchelle Lazare, Cheznelle Sorhaindo and Mackisha Trocard were fifth formers who were acknowledged as persons who aided in the betterment of St.Cecilia's house during their years at Convent High School.

The assembly culminated with the boisterous singing of the House song, accompanied by Rolanda Ferdinand on the Keyboard and Brianna Benjamin on the Recorder. On a whole, the assembly was splendidly done and enthusiastically appreciated.

St. Cecilia, continue to pray for us.
