Alex-Maree Roberts (St. Ann's House) and Jade Alexander (St. Theresa's House) of Form 2-1 won the DAT and Springfield Trading's Chubby Secondary School Spelling Bee Competition on Tuesday, 29 September, 2009 in the CHS auditorium.

The other two schools in the competition were Isaiah Thomas Secondary School and North East Comprehensive School. The CHS students and those of Isaiah Thomas Secondary School spelt every word correctly in the ten rounds of the competition to beat out North East Comprehensive. This led a "run-off." CHS continued to dominate by receiving perfect scores.

There was also a battle between our two girls and Reena Bruno of Isiah Thomas to determine who was the best speller. In the end, Alexander prevailed.

CHS thanks Alexander and Roberts for this excellent performance and their spelling coach, Miss Inese Stephenson.
