The Botanical Gardens was the ideal meeting place for the hundreds of well wishers and past and present students of the Convent High School who gathered to continue the celebrations of the 150th Anniversary in a grand Sports Day.

It began at approximately 9.30 am and was filled with different exhilarating activities such as lime and spoon, needle and thread, tennis shoe and socks and a number of other races ranging from the 1500 metre run to the 100 metre run. Throughout the day, snacks prepared by volunteers were sold in order to raise funds and music was played to ease the minds of the runners.

The day culminated with St. Rita’s house and St. Cecelia’s house struggling to hold the top position. St. Agnes remained close at their heels, while St. Joan and St.Theresa’s house continued to have hopes of climbing to a higher position. On the other hand, St. Ann’s house remained in the sixth place. Everyone awaits the Knowledge and Spelling competition next week which will determine the top house.

The Sports Day would not have been a success without the help of the ‘old girls’, the planning committee, the students of form 2-4, the Physical Education teacher, the detention students and all others who lent a helping hand. While the past and present students participated in the games, they were encouraged by the shouts of onlookers. The athletes definitely have to be commended for their dedication especially the ‘old girls’ of St. Joan who came back in large numbers to support their house.

This day has been embedded in the memories of all who were present.
