Seventeen-year-old Chivonne Carrette (5-A) of Pointe Caribe is the winner of the French Dictèe Competition held of March 12.

A passage was read to twelve students and Carrette emerged winner because she was able to write the passage most accurately. As winner, Carrette was given a trophy and a cash prize of $100.

“I have a passion for French,” says Carrette. “The competition was also a perfect opportunity for me to practice my knowledge in preparation for the CXC exams. I want to continue to study French all the way to university.”

Carrette is no stranger to awards. Last year, she was awarded second prize in the Florida Caribbean Cruise Association (FCCA) essay competition and honourable mention in the Commonwealth essay competition.

Convent High School congratulates Chivonne Carrette for her outstanding achievements.
