Head Girl's Christmas Message

Christmas. What really is it about?

Christmas greetings to our principal, Mrs. Dublin, our teachers and all our school mates!  Christmas is finally here.  Today is the last day of school for this year 2013.   Let me take this opportunity to wish everyone a merry Christmas and a very prosperous 2014.

What does Christmas mean to us?  During this Christmas season, we are going to be home with our families.  Christmas is a time to be with family; doing things that family do with each other, in celebration, having fun, eating sweet fruitcake and drinking ginger sorrel. Many of us are looking forward to the shopping where we can buy special gifts for our friends and families.  We look forward to the morning of Christmas when we open our gifts and share the joy of Christmas.

But Christmas means much more than that.

Christ’ Mas(s) is the season where we celebrate the birth of Jesus Christ the King.  Many of us go to church and listen keenly to the Christmas Mass message as we take down notes for our religion project. Some of us take part in singing carols and even take  part in Christmas skits.

The Christmas message is about Humility.  Our king, Jesus Christ was a most humble man.  He was born like you and me in a humble family, in a manger and a small town.  However, despite his humble origin, He was the king Emmanuel “Christ with us”.  The message tells us that ordinary people can do extraordinary things.

Finally, schoolmates and teachers, let us go out of our homes and into our community spreading the news of Christmas.  Like the three wise men let us carry gifts to persons in need.  We can visit the children’s homes like Chances, Operation Youth Quake, Grotto and the Infirmary.  Only then will we experience the true Christmas Spirit.
