On Tuesday May 5 2015, The Convent High School English Department hosted their Literacy Day.  This year the theme was “Books Light Up our World” and the feature speaker was Miss Ama Francis, former student of CHS and Harvard graduate in Comparative Literature.

The assembly was conducted by the Communications Club of CHS, the President Miss Marie-Ange Emmanuel presided. Fourth former, Selena Cuffy and teacher Ms. N. Durand teamed up to proclaim the gospel followed by a reflection by Mrs. S. Douglas-Perez.

Other members of the ‘Com Club’ prayed for writers, our English Department, staff and students as well as Peace in our world. D’jana Wyllis read the citation on Miss Ama Francis who encouraged the students to read and use their imagination to bring life to all their tasks. She compared life to that of the Bible and God as the writer of our personal book and testament. She challenged the students to read ‘out of the box’ and take an active part in writing their lives.

The winners of the ‘Com Club’ essay competition were sponsored by the Aid Bank and Big Edge Financial, the winners were:
