10th Annual OECS Credit Union Summit

The 10th annual Credit Union Summit was held in Dominica at Ross University from Friday August 24 to Saturday August 25th, 2012. Three fourth formers of C.H.S attended the summit - Marva Bell, Shanice Isidore, and Devi St. Luce. They were accompanied by the Principal, Mrs. Josephine Dublin and Deputy Principal, Ms. Isabella Prentice.

 

The theme for this year’s summit was ‘Co- operatives- The Engine of Growth in Tough Economic Times.’ Delegates from Antigua, Grenada, St. Lucia, St. Vincent and St. Kitts attended the summit and gave their opinions on the topics discussed.
The main topics discussed and presented on Friday were the Money Laundering Prevention Act and Youth in Cooperatives. Ms. Isabella Prentice, Deputy Principal of C.H.S was the facilitator for the Youth in Cooperatives Presentation. On the second day of the summit a number of topics were discussed but the highlight of the day were the reports from Dominica Youth in Co- operatives. Members of the Junior Cooperatives and Credit- Unionettes from schools around the island attended the summit where they gave a summary of their Co- operatives. Shanice Isidore gave the report on the credit unionette at Convent High School.
