Kazia Scotland, age 16 and Shyanne Lake, age 14, have represented Dominica and Convent High School in Jean Pierre Under 16 Netball Regional Tournament, held in St. Vincent, where the emerged second place.

They, along with student athletes from the Dominica Grammar School, St. Martin Secondary School, Goodwill Secondary School and the NorthEast Comprehensive collaborated to make the Dominica Under 16 Netball Team.

The Dominica Team competed against Netball teams from St. Vincent, Trinidad, Barbados, St. Lucia, Grenada and Antigua during Easter 2012.

Other than gaining fitness, the two grew close bonds with their fellow Dominican athletes and connected easily with some regional players during the week’s tournament.

Shyanne Lake, when being questioned on the level of difficulty faced, explained, “It’s not my first time playing regionally, so it’s nothing new to me, but our greatest difficulty was playing against Barbados.”

Kazia Scotland said that she learned how to be a more humble person, manage her time efficiently and "step up her game even more.”

Their representation for Dominica and Convent High School is exceptionally commendable.
