Shekina Moise wins National Tourism Youth Congress

Shekina Moise (St Ann's House and Form 2-1) won the National Tourism Youth Congress on Thursday, 6 May, 2010. The vent was organized by the Ministry of Tourism and the Discover Dominica Authority and was part of the celebration of “Tourism Awareness Month.”



The event took place in two rounds. The first involved discussion by the participants from the nine schools represented on the topic “What defines Dominica as a Tourism Destination?” Representatives from five schools moved on to the second round which focused on “Sustainable Tourism is the best option for Caribbean countries facing the global economic downturn.”

 

Speaking about the event, Shekina said, “I am elated to have won the competition, especially with such a caliber of competitors. The victory has triggered feelings of both pride in myself and humility towards the challenge of the upcoming Caribbean Tourism Youth Congress. I wish to thank all the other members of the Communication Club for their help and support.”
