The Convent High School Literacy Week celebration came to an end on Friday 23rd April with an assembly held by the 2nd formers under the theme ‘Take a book and read’. Students of the CHS gathered together on the courtyard as they participated fully in the assembly. The reading was taken from Acts 8:1-8.

A performance from ‘The Irish Kid’ - a young junior monarch calypsonian - concluded the assembly. His calypso was entitled ‘Take a book and read’ which was relevant to the theme under which literacy week was held - A world without is one without purpose - and the theme for that specific day. The students were elated by the performance that was put on by the young calypsonian as he encouraged them to keep reading.

Later that afternoon, the long awaited Credit Unionette Quiz was held with participating members of the various houses. Students gathered in the auditorium to support their participating house members. The results of the Competition were:

  • 1st Place – St Agnes with 60 pts.

  • 2nd Place – St Cecilia with 40 pts

  • 3rd Place – St Joan with 30 pts

  • 4th Place – St Ann, St Rita and St Theresa with 20 pts each.

The Convent High School Literacy Week was headed by the CHS Communications Club and Head of the English Department, Miss Kimone Joseph. It was quite a success and the students enjoyed the various activities that were planned for their participation and enjoyment.
