The class of 1998 of the Convent High School (CHS) will be holding activities in recognition of Dominica’s 30th anniversary of independence, their alma mater’s 150th anniversary of existence and the group’s 10th year since graduation.

According to the Chairperson of the CHS Class of ’98 Committee, Jocelyn Lisa Latouche, the activities promise to be a time of great excitement for the entire group.

“This will be a chance for all of us to get together,” said Latouche. “We will be able to catch up on old times and rekindle some of the friendships that time and space may have faded. Those of us who are here in Dominica are already energized and we are pleased to know that so many of our old girls will be here during the reunion season to celebrate with us.”

The activities will run from October 22 to 30. Some of the activities include an opening meeting at the CHS Auditorium at 5:30 on Wednesday, October 22, mingling sessions during Thirsty Thursday at The Cove on Thursday, October 23 and at Happy Hour at Fort Young Hotel on Friday, October 24. On Saturday, October 25, there will be a special house party. The group will celebrate mass at the St. Alphonsus Church at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 26 and this will be followed by a beach picnic at Coconut Beach in Portsmouth. In addition, the CHS Class of ’98 will make a special monetary presentation to their alma mater at a morning assembly on Wednesday, October 29.

“We wanted to ensure that as part of our celebrations we give something back to CHS,” Latouche remarked. “This school has made a mark on the life of each ’98 graduate and we are all proud of that. We owe so much to our time spent at CHS.”

The activities will conclude with an intimate wine and cheese affair on Thursday, October 30. The group is also urging its members to support the contestants from their former houses during CHS’s annual fund-raising event, the Mamsel Wob Dwiyet Pageant that will be held on Friday, October 31 (Creole Day).

All ’98 grandaunts are encouraged to begin to make plans to purchase their t-shirts and memorabilia for the special event. For more information about the events planned, contact Jocelyn Lisa Latouche at (767) 235-1262.
